I have always been curious about how businesses find each other. Who you work with, why you chose this path, and which businesses helped you get to where you are. A few years ago I was in Barbados, talking with a gym owner. I mentioned there was probably funding he could use to run programs for youth, and he told me he had never heard of anything like it. We spent the rest of that conversation on two questions I have not been able to put down since. How does that kind of information reach the businesses that need it? And when one business finds someone good, a supplier, a contractor, anyone worth keeping, how does the next business ever find out? Mentioned is my answer to both, and it rests on one premise: a business is also a customer. I started Culturis to connect opportunity to my culture and my community, and my culture has never been separate from the wider community I am part of here. The businesses around me in Canada come from everywhere, and that is the point. Each one can help build up the next, and communities grow when that happens. Health, technology, culture, and communities people are glad to belong to. Those are the things I care about, and Culturis is how I work on all of them.
