Agreement to terms

By accessing or using Mentioned.ca (“the platform”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the platform.

Who can use Mentioned

Mentioned is open to anyone, but to activate or create a business listing you must:

• Be at least 18 years old
• Be authorized to act on behalf of the business you are listing
• Provide accurate and complete information
• Maintain your account’s security

What you can do on the platform

• Search the business directory
• Activate and maintain a business listing
• Add founder profile information, business relationships, and circle members
• Recommend other businesses (positive only. See below)
• Contribute advice to the editorial layer
• Use the funding match engine
• Subscribe to paid tiers for additional features

What you cannot do

• Misrepresent your identity or your business
• List a business you are not authorized to represent
• Use the platform for unlawful purposes
• Scrape, harvest, or systematically extract data from the platform
• Attempt to bypass any security mechanism or access controls
• Use the platform to harass, threaten, or harm others
• Publish content that infringes intellectual property rights
• Misuse the recommendation system to inflate counts artificially

Violation of any of these may result in account suspension or termination at our sole discretion.

The recommendation system

Mentioned’s recommendation system is intentionally positive-only. There is no mechanism to leave negative feedback, ratings, or complaints about a business. This is a deliberate design decision to protect small businesses from coordinated negative campaigns. If you have a negative experience with a business listed on Mentioned, the appropriate venues are your own communications with the business, consumer protection agencies, or other public review platforms.

Mentioned does not verify the accuracy of recommendations. A community recommendation is a one-tap signal that the recommender wants to publicly endorse the business. It is not a guarantee, warranty, or endorsement by Mentioned itself.

Content you submit

You retain ownership of all content you submit to Mentioned. Your founder story, your business information, your advice contributions, your photographs. By submitting content, you grant Mentioned a non-exclusive license, with no royalty owed, to display, distribute, and promote that content on the platform and in marketing materials about the platform.

You can remove your content at any time by editing or deleting your listing, with the understanding that removal does not retroactively affect content already cached, indexed, or republished by third parties.

Subscriptions and payments

Mentioned offers Listed, Connected, and Featured subscription tiers as described on our Pricing page. All amounts are in Canadian dollars. Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled.

You can cancel any subscription at any time from your account settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. We do not provide refunds for partial billing periods.

Disclaimer of warranties

The platform is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee that the platform will be uninterrupted, without errors, or secure. We do not warrant the accuracy of any business listing or recommendation.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Mentioned and Culturis are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the platform. Our total liability for any claim related to the platform is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or $100 CAD, whichever is greater.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the applicable federal laws of Canada. Any disputes will be resolved exclusively in the courts of Ontario.
